If you want to change the position of the roof use the properties palette to edit the base level and offset properties to change the position of the reference plane.
You can use slope arrows to create slopes on a roof.
On the properties palette select new sketch from the filter list.
Click modify create roof footprint tab draw panel slope arrow.
The reference plane in the sketch indicates where the 4 sided gable roof stops.
